Brampton, Canada – Medtronic Canada, a leader in medical technology, services, and solutions, is proud to announce its recognition as one of the Greenest Employers in Canada for 2024. This fourth consecutive award highlights the company's ongoing efforts to reduce its carbon footprint, champion recycling initiatives, and foster a culture of ecological responsibility among its employees.
This longstanding commitment to environmental responsibility is evident within employee culture at its Canadian operations — employee recommendations led to the company’s first global LEED silver energy and environmental certified head office built in Brampton, Ontario, in 2009.
Proactive sustainability efforts have continued with recent initiatives including a global, employee led Environmental Action Group. The resource group enables localized chapters promoting various programs such as tips for plastic use reduction, EV charging stations in company parking lots, and on-site greenhouses and gardening spaces dedicated to donating produce to local foodbanks.
Additionally in Canada, the company has piloted device recycling programs for years, preventing over 10,000 devices each year from ending up in landfills.
Since 2014, Medtronic’s global operations has consistently published annual reports highlighting its ongoing sustainability efforts, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2030 and net-zero carbon emissions by 2045.
From small daily actions to enterprise level changes, Medtronic’s environmental commitment is part of the fabric of its corporate Mission to alleviate pain, restore health and extend life.
“This is something people care about more every year as we see the impact of climate change,” says Medtronic Regional Business Director Francis Dufresne. “In 2024, it’s the only way to go.”
Canada’s Greenest Employers list is selected by Mediacorp, based on a multifactor methodology, including unique environmental initiatives, employee engagement, and successfully reducing environmental impact.
