Brampton, Canada - June 13, 2017 - Medtronic Canada, a subsidiary of Medtronic plc (NYSE: MDT) announced today the grand opening of its first Canadian Medtronic Resource Centre in support of patients living with diabetes in Surrey BC, and the surrounding area. The centre will be located in the Health and Technology District, near Surrey Memorial Hospital. The centre will provide a dedicated location where Medtronic will offer education, support, and other resources as an extension of what Medtronic currently offers to local health care professionals and the patients they support who rely on insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technologies for their Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes.

“This centre has been much anticipated as a real-world solution to a real-world problem, offering post-marketing care of our clients on an intensive insulin regimen using Medtronic insulin pump technology,” said Dr. Chris Mahony, diabetes specialist in Surrey, BC. “This establishment will raise the bar to a new level of support for our patients with diabetes.”

“There are many elements involved in managing diabetes and we want to provide helpful support to patients using Medtronic technology with an overall goal of improving health outcomes in the community,” says Laura Cameron, director of Medtronic Canada’s Diabetes Group. “To provide greater freedom and better health, Medtronic is dedicated to helping to reduce long-term complications associated with diabetes, which in turn can help improve patients’ lives, and reduce the burden for them, and for the healthcare system.”
