Brampton, Canada – Medtronic Canada is delighted to announce that it has been recognized as one of the Best Workplaces in Healthcare for the fourth consecutive year, after a thorough and independent analysis conducted by Great Place to Work®.

Organizations on this list must be Great Place to Work-Certified™ in the past year, headquartered in Canada and at least 90% of employees must agree that people are treated fairly, regardless of their gender. Recognition as one of the Best Workplaces® in Healthcare in Canada is one of many honours Medtronic Canada has received over the past year.

Medtronic has always strived to maintain a sense of pride among employees through its Mission, as well as its company culture.

"The desire to make a positive impact in people's lives is often what draws people to join us,” says Yvonne Farquharson, Director of Human Resources at Medtronic Canada. “We do our best to retain that talent and as a result we have employees with over 35 years of tenure in the company!"

Family members of longstanding Medtronic Canada employees have been inspired to join the company, often first as interns and then as full-time employees.

Kate Robbins was introduced to the Medtronic family at 3 weeks old at a company Christmas party. After two summers and a part-time role working in technical support during her university studies, she joined the company as an Associate Marketing Specialist in the Cardiac Therapies & Diagnostics group. Her father, Peter Robbins, has been with the company for nearly 25 years.

Medtronic has always prioritized learning and development initiatives for its workforce, as well as diversity and inclusion through its active career enhancement programs, networking circles and employee-run resource groups.

“It’s an amazing feeling to know that Kate will have exciting learning, networking and career development opportunities with inspiring mentors,” Peter Robbins says. “I know this because I have experienced it myself.”

Peter has held progressively senior roles in accounting, finance, as well as pricing and contracts. Today, he is the Integrated Business Planning Lead for Medtronic Canada.

“Aside from what we do for healthcare, the people are the biggest reason to stay,” he adds.

As a recent graduate in the early days of her career, Kate has already experienced working with two different businesses, Diabetes and Cardiac Therapies & Diagnostics.

The Robbins duo say that they are proud to work for Medtronic and support the company’s Mission to “alleviate pain, restore health and extend life.”

“Over my entire life, family members and friends have used Medtronic technology, so my dad and I have seen how their lives have been changed for the better,” says Kate Robbins. “It’s fulfilling to know that I am contributing to the evolution of healthcare through my work with a company that values me, no matter what stage of my career I am in.”
